The night rode and rode... The Hives came to the club , TV on the Radio music peeps were here.. besides the excellent bands Hess is More and Goran Kajfes Subtropic Arkestra. The nite was billed as Mauro and friends .....but .. Mauro had to leave town to join Red Hot Chilli Peppers continuos tour ....so the band was the remaining two of forro in the dark, Jorge and Guilherme joined by Aaron and Jesse of the BG's and Jesse also from Love Trio.

Mauro is back in town from his Red Hot Chilli Peppers tour , whom he joined for this tour...the percussion man's Forro in the Dark rocked as always . Ori from Balkan Beat box and Bill Bragin , Lincoln Center man and good dj, and Sky White Tiger started the evening with a Pink Floyd'y set ...

FRIDAY NITE , DAY 8 OF A 30 DAY CELEBRATION.. NUBLU 10 YEARS !

Karina Zeviani sang and played ..visiting from her current  home, Rio . She sings with Thievery Corporation and Nouvelle Vague usually. Karina in  the picture with Julianne , Fernanda and Raquel ...Rene Lopez and Dj Turmix rocked the turntables... Dizzy Ventilators and Peace opened then evening with cool sets .

SUN RA ARKESTRA WAS SOO AMAZING.

Whoever was here got lifted up to the Sun Ra planet or planets. Was truly amazing , kinda what one wish for music always should be like ! In the pictures Marshall Allen , 88 years old !! , playing for another listening legend , Henry Grimes , the baseman of Thelonius Monk and many others !! That's true jazz history !

HOUSE OF DIABLO !

Shawn Pelton's band with Brian Mitchell swings and rocks in the way that you basically have to know the south inside out to be able to do this. Very very cool; songs , the singing, the beats mixed up with Shawn's live sampling...and Jesse Murphy on bass..ohhh yeeee. I believe Clark Gayton is the regular Tuba/bass man ...but he is on the road with Bruce Springsteen...but Jesse Murphy filled those shoes real nice . 2ND DAY OF THE ANNIVERSARY..

2nd nite opened with great singer Federico Aubele ...sang a few song from his up and coming album and some songs from his older repertoire. Nice show with his barytone voice ! Jojo Mayer's beatdriven band Nerve , played some crazy rhythms , a must hear live ! MKL rocked the turntables til 4am...

1ST NITE OF NUBLU'S 10TH ANNIVERSARY....THE WHOLE MONTH OF JUNE!

First night was super...people came out , enjoyed, danced , partied...and music was great ! Andy Rourke , who used to play with the Smiths has a new band called Jetlag. Real cool ! Nina Becker was visiting from Brasil and sang a few songs , she is the lead singer of the great band from Rio De Janeiro called Orquestra  Imperial. Then at Midnite Nublu's original and basically first band outta Nublu , Love Trio. With Ilhan Ersahin on sax and keys, Jesse Murphy on bass, Kenny Wollesen on drums and special guest Arto Tuncboyaciyan on percussion and vocals. Photos by Pinar !
