NUBLU JAZZFEST CONTINUES...

On davis and the original Djuke music players sounded great ! This band is getting better and better every time I hear them . Its like Jimi Hendrix-Sly Stone -Sun Ra combination...only in NYC !! Another only in NYC band was the Sunday nite show Juini Booth presented with him on bass ,Spaceman on guitar and Victor Jones on drums. Sun Ra alumnis took the music far far away from planet earth . Juini Booth , is a legendary baseman who has played besides Sun Ra for years , Juini was the bass player with the infamous Joe henderson Big Band back in 1968 that was never recorded, then Juini went on to play with Shelly Manne , Art Blakey , Tony Williams lifetime band , McCoy Tyner and so on...Tuesday nite ; Nublu Orchestra with Butch Morris conducting !! ... swing by .. .. ohh and Eyvind Opsvik played some great music early set Sunday with Tony Malaby , Kenny Wollesen and Jacob Sacks !

Tonite was Love Trio with Arto Tuncboyaciyan , Heart Beat sessions opening and Malik Work/Ray Angry at outer Nublu . Forro in the Dark was at Joe's Pub.

Tonite 2 monster musicians played ...Jojo Mayer's Nerve and Clark's band Explorations in Dub , both just amazing , if you don't know please check em !

Great pianist Vana Gierig opened the set for Jojo and Eleanor Dubinsky opened the evening for Clark at outer Nublu ...DJ's MKL , And Alex from Tokyo rocked as well...

On our end Nublu JazzFest continues...tomorrow Jojo Mayer , Forro in the Dark Saturday at Joe's Pub , Love Trio with Arto saturday at Nublu , etc etc .. check the schedule..lots of good acts..

NUBLU JAZZFEST IN NYC ..1ST DAY !!!

Nice to be open again !! The fest started with Jeff Ballard and Lionel Louke duo , real nice ! Then continued with Criolo , Brazil's new hot star. At outer Nublu was Jason Lindner's now vs now followed by Eliano Braz's forro band...

CRIOLO AND GANJAMAN IN TOWN...

Criolo and Ganjaman from the Sao Paulo scene are in town . Playing some private thing tuesday nite at the store Espasso and Wednesday they're playing at Nublu , back to 62 Avenue C tonite !!

The cool magazine Trip are involved as well . Criolo was chosen best new artist of the year in Brasil , and Ganja is the producer as well as keyboard man, come check it out on Wednesday !
